ABOUT THE ARTIST
I was born in Wheeling, West Virginia and raised in Bridgeport, Ohio. I majored in fine art, and received my Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from the Columbus College of Art & Design in 1993. I lived and painted in Taos, New Mexico from 1996-97. I also lived and worked in the beautiful city of Wilmington, North Carolina for the past five years. I have had the honor and privilege of working with Hiroshi Sueyoshi, master potter, at the Cameron Art Museum.
I find my inspiration through life experiences, people, music, nature, and discovering new places and things. I focus on the exploration of color, shape, texture and movement in my paintings and sculptures. Since moving close to the ocean, my pottery has evolved into more organic sculptural pieces, and my paintings are brighter and have a beautiful flowing movement to them.
I have been exhibiting and selling my art nationally and internationally for over twenty years. My work continues to be collected throughout the US and Europe.
I am inspired by the works of Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Georgia O’Keeffe, Wassily Kandinsky and Joan Miro.
Artist’s statement…
My life’s purpose is to inspire the world through art. I am committed to being lit up, on fire, in love with life, people living the life of their dreams, and seeing the beauty in each and every moment.
To me, art is a dance...a profound relationship of movement, colors, lines, textures and shapes. I am completely intrigued by the exploration process painting and sculpting are for me. I love discovering what happens when you put one color next to another, one shape next to another…the movement, the stillness, the tension, the release. The entire process is completely amazing to me.
I have always believed that everything effects everything. Every time I look at what’s going on in what I’m working on, painting or sculpture, it’s exactly reflecting what’s happening in my life. Painting is a meditation….an intuitive process…one way I connect with the divine. One brush stroke leads to the next, one movement causes another, one direction can open up an entire world I didn’t know existed.
Thank you for the opportunity to share my passion in life with you.
